ASCO’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) is an oncologist-led, practice-based quality improvement program.
QOPI’s goal is to promote excellence in cancer care by helping practices create a culture of self-examination and improvement. The process employed for improving cancer care includes measurement, feedback and improvement tools for hematology-oncology practices.

- Demonstrable participation in a respected quality improvement program
- Data collected can be used to complete ABIM’s Self-directed Practice Improvement Module and satisfy the practice performance improvement requirement for Maintenance of Certification

Practices must be registered to participate in data collections. New practices can register for QOPI at any time, but should register at least one month prior to the start of a data collection round to receive e-mail notifications regarding training and materials for the round.
QOPI is an ASCO member benefit currently available to US-based practices with at least one ASCO member in good standing. There is no charge to register/participate in QOPI; participating sites bear the internal costs of chart abstraction. Data collection occurs twice per year, in spring and fall, for a five week period.
